法華経守護の善神であり、安産・子育て･子授けの女鬼神

「子安鬼子母尊神」（こやすきしもそんじん）

鬼子母尊神の像は、「鬼形（きぎょう）鬼子母尊神」・「子安（こやす）鬼子母尊神」に分かれます。

子安鬼子母尊神は、左手に子供を抱え、右手に吉祥果（きっしょうか）を持ちます。

吉祥果はザクロに似た天上の果物で、割れた表皮から現れる瑞々しく宝石のように美しい多くの粒は

富や女性、子宝の象徴とされており、仏教において子供と女性の守護神様です。

鬼子母尊神は、500人とも1000人とも言われる多くの子供を産み育て、その上から10人の子供たちが十羅刹女です。
